The Legend of the Candy Cane

I received a late Christmas card on my mail route today and this is what it says:

The Legend of the Candy Cane

                     jesus_candy_cane_card-p137966139843478236vdun_325

A humble man wished to use his candy making art to make a Christmas gift for Christ that came straight from his heart.

First he shaped the candy  into a shepherd’s staff, a “J”—to stand for the name of Jesus, who was born on Christmas Day.

He used white stripes to symbolize Jesus’ virgin birth, and His sinlessness and purity during His time on earth.

Finally, he colored the candy with stripes made out of red to represent the scourging and the blood that Jesus shed.

He had created the Candy Cane, to remind us during this season that Christmas is a sweet gift of love—Jesus is the reason.

Merry Christmas

I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Remember the reason why we have "Christ"mas. The first Christmas was when the wise (Magi's) men found Jesus at his home and they brought him gifts for they knew he was the King.

1After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east[b] and have come to worship him."
3When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ[c] was to be born. 5"In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written:
6" 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'[d]"

7Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."

9After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east[e] went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. 12And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

So that said: MERRY "CHRIST"MAS to all.

It's called Christmas,

I just heard this song tonight while watching the light show at the Smokey Stadium with some of the youth group and I love this song. It is called Christmas with a capital "C". If it weren't for Jesus Christ, we wouldn't even have Christmas and yes, our founding fathers believe in God and that's what our Nation is founded on, Christ.
So people can call it what they want but in reality it is called "CHRIST"MAS! So MERRY "CHRIST"MAS TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mary Did You Know - Kutless

The first time I heard this song Clay Aiken's sang it after his thing with American Idol. I thought it was a pretty song. But now I have found an edgier version of it and it is still pretty.

So, happy birthday Jonpaul and I pray that you to will have many more.  So that is the continuation of yesterdays blog.  They both now have their drivers license, one has a job and soon my daughter will be looking too.  I just can’t believe that they are 17 (Jonpaul) and 16 (Tabitha).  Time sure has flown.

Love the both of you very much.

Love Mom

P.S. My daughter will tell the story as to why she came early for she was tired of Jonpaul sitting on her and she’s sticking to it!  There’s a pic of him at his first birthday, with his very own cake, sitting on my tummy!

Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Here's another good memory. My mom use to have the Christmas album of Alvin and the Chipmunks and while we decorate our tree, she would play Christmas albums and this being one of them. The album has to be at least about 40 years old. Tried looking for it over the summer and couldn't find it. We think it got sold at the garage sale before they moved here. Enjoy this fun tune from Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Christmas Decorations

When the time comes and my parents pass away all I ever wanted was the Christmas ornaments.  I don’t know what they have left me in their will but the ornaments are the memories I want to have of them.  Now don’t fret they are still with me here on earth.

Anyways last year mom decided to give my sister and I the ornaments when my sister was up here visiting for Christmas.

Most of these ornaments are hand made either by one of my grandmothers or an aunt.

This next picture, I made these when I was little.

About  3 years ago my kids and I each made one of each of these ornaments.  I love them but boy those pins hurt your fingers after pushing them into the Styrofoam.

Now our youth pastor just gave each one of us in the youth group Wednesday night this ornament and it has become my favorite.

Then this last item I bought from Wal-Mart's about 3 years ago and I love it and I just keep it out all year long.

I hope this Christmas as you are decorating that each item you put up brings back memories of Christmas past that is pleasant and memorable to you.  These are just some of those things for me.  I still have things my kids made when they were young in school.  I do miss those days when they made me things.  Over the years not all of those precious things have survived but I still remember.

P.S. Mom still has 4 bells of different colors that she still puts on her tree.  As a kid (and I still do when I go over there) I would ring each one of them.  I’m hoping one day to add them with this collection.

Do You Hear What I Hear

Here is another Christmas song I remember listening to when I was little. Mom and Dad always listen to contemporary classics (guess that's what I would call them) like Bing Crosby, Andy William, Sammie Davis and etc..... Bing Crosby has that recognizable voice. This just brings back a lot of memories of many Christmas'.

The Little Drummer Boy

Here is my favorite Christmas show that I remember watching when I was a child and always cried when the lamb got ran over. But this demonstrates that all Jesus wants is our love and our hearts, a simple gift to bring to Him and He will save you. They don't show this one on tv anymore and I'm just sad that they don't.

731 Years Prior

Did you know that the prediction of Jesus’ birth happened 731 years before His birth?  How neat is that!  The LORD told Isaiah about the birth of His son.

Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)  Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel.

Can you imagine the Lord telling you about the birth of his own son?  Can you imagine being the one to spread that news? A child to be born of a virgin.  You know what people were thinking, that’s impossible.  And to have the name given meaning God  with us. I don’t know if I could be the one to spread that kind of wonderful news.

Then Isaiah goes on to say in chapter 9:

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)  For to us a child is born, to us a son given, and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there will be now end.  He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.  The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

Did you read that carefully?  A child born given to us.  He is the one that should be the government of our lives.  Look at all those names he has!  He is wonderful and a counselor, a mighty God, everlasting and our Father and gives us peace, so yea he should be the Prince of it.

He is already on the throne in His kingdom that He is preparing for us.  He will establish it and uphold it in the end.  He is just and righteous.  And this wonderful note, once He is in your life, it starts from that time to forever.

And that last sentence in the Scripture, He will accomplish it.  Even the end is foretold here.  All will be done by Him, because of Him.

What a beautiful message of long ago, before it happened.  What would you think if you were one of those people back in those days?  How would you respond?  How do you respond now, hearing it?  I think it is absolutely amazing and glad He came to earth in the flesh, lived like us and finally went to establish His kingdom.  I know one thing, I can’t wait to get there to see it, and yes I will be going there.

I am a believer and I love our Lord and Savior.

Oh yea, if you want to do something neat, put your name in place of the us in the first sentence.

For to Robin a child is born, to Robin a son is given,

How cool is that, makes me feel special and that is how compassionate our Lord is to all of us.  He is not selfish.

The Christmas Shoes

Over the next few weeks, I'll be putting up blogs on things I love about Christmas and things that bring back memories from the past.

The Christmas Shoes became my favorite song for Christmas when I heard it a few years ago. I love it and yes it always, and I mean always brings tears to my eyes. Our church is doing this drama, so I'll probably cry through it too. I even just bought the movie of it, so I'm ready to cry and just fall in love with this song over and over again.

P.S. haven't figured out why the comments doesn't work anymore, it's in the process of finding out but if you want to leave a comment, here is where you can go.
