Gentiles

What is a Gentile? Well here is what I found on an online dictionary. It gives a noun definition and an adjective definition.

A person who is not Jewish, esp. a Christian; a heathen or pagan; of or pertaining to any people not Jewish; Christian, as distinguished from Jewish.

Now you are probably wondering why I brought this up. I have been reading the book of Ephesians and Scripture just popped out at me and stuck in my mind. That's a God thing for ya.

Ephesians 2:12-22; 3:6

remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

What does that mean to you? To me it tells me that I was not a part of God's family before I was saved and I was a foreigner without hope for God was not in my life at that time.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Until I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I was far away but through His blood that He shed for me, I am now saved.

Watch this!

For he himself is our peace, who has made the two into one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

Because Jesus took our old nature (the sinful man) to the cross and gives birth to the new man; we are two made into one. We still have our old bodies but Christ as our Savior, our old sinful nature should be gone and the new spiritual nature has taken it's place. See two made into one and He reconciled us to the Father because of the cross. Now He is our intercessor to the Father.

He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

See the Israelites are God's chosen people but we who were not part of that group who chose to accept Him are apart of God's chosen people too. We are no longer foreigners or aliens. Yay I like the sound of being fellow citizens with all of God's chosen people and being a member of His household.

In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by the Spirit.

See the body of the church is joined together and we rise together to worship and praise Him while becoming His holy temple and individually we are being built (a progress always at work) becoming a place for Him to live in so He can teach us and convict us and love us.

Here's the best part of all this.

This mystery is that through the gospel (the good news) the Gentiles (us who are not of God's original people) are heirs together with Israel, members together of "one" body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Even though we weren't the original members of God's chosen people, He still wants us to be apart of his family. We are heirs. Do you see that? Heirs with Israel, "members together", of "ONE body. Together! I just love the sound of that "heirs", "members", "one" and especially "together". Doesn't that sound neat to you? Don't you want to be apart of this one big happy family? Come join us, it's simple just ask God to forgive you, admit that you are a sinner, believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and ask Him in and you'll be apart of this family.
